WorldPride London 2012

Formerly known as Gay Pride, the festival featured thousands of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people parading through central London, promoting LGBT issues and campaigning for LGBT rights.

WorldPride 2012 celebrated 40 years of Pride in London with the Veterans of the first 1972 Pride parade leading yesterday's march.

Sadly, London's WorldPride event had to be scaled down due to a funding shortage and consequently the march was stripped of floats. The street party in Soho was also scrapped.

Video Highlights of the WorldPride Parade

Nearly 80 countries still criminalise homosexuality and more than half of these countries belong to the Commonwealth. It therefore comes as no surprise that the selected theme for this year's Pride parade was "Decriminalise homosexuality worldwide - Global equality for LGBT people."
