Songkran (Thailand New Year): The Water Festival

Have you been to Thailand recently? If so, between 14 and 15 of April this year you must have gotten pretty wet.

Every April, to celebrate the Thai New Year, the world’s largest water fight takes place in Thailand. Do not mistaken though, this doesn't happen in a small isolated village or in a neighbour's back yard; people take the splash to the streets. We’re talking about an entire country drowning itself with supersoakers.

There is a range of supersoaker weapons involved. If you have close access to water, a bucket is a good choice, the bigger the better. It holds a lot of water and you can aim for the high impact attack. On the more advanced weaponry level, you can use the water guns; less immediate impact with the water gun squirts, but your water depositary is filled for longer. Besides, the level of fun is down to the master of the water gun, not the gun itself. In addition to buckets, pans, pots, bowls and water guns, there have been sightings of people going in with an elephant for the top notch water attack. Whatever the supersoakers, rest assured, you will be wet!
