London Pride Parade

Thousands of revellers have marched through central London on the annual Pride parade. It was the city's biggest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender celebration for more than a decade with 150 groups taking part in it.

The 2013 Pride in London parade began at Baker Street making its way along Oxford Street to Oxford Circus then along Regent Street to Piccadilly, heading down to Waterloo Place then to Trafalgar Square before ending in Whitehall.

After the parade further celebrations took place in Trafalgar Square, Soho and around London throughout the afternoon and into the evening.

Pride In London Calls For Equality And Mutual Respect

This year's theme was Love and Marriage - to coincide with the Equal Marriage Bill currently before Parliament.

Michael Salter, chairman of Pride in London, said: "Pride in London is a great opportunity to promote a charity or community group and campaign. This year the theme is Love (and Marriage) to celebrate civil partnerships, parents' love for their children, love of friends and family but it also recognises the Equal Marriage bill going through Parliament."

Britain can be proud of being one of the most advanced nations in the world in terms of equal rights for LGBT+ people.
