Lambeth Country Show, is a local community event run by Lambeth Council. It is held in Brockwell Park Herne Hill, it takes place every year on the third weekend of July.
There are many different events and activities at the show that include horse riding, displays of birds of prey and owls, also many other animals from the local city farms, funfair, musical performances from well known bands, artists, craft displays, and a wide range of food and drinks at the market stalls.
The Lambeth show was founded in 1974 and has been going for 39 years now, and next year they will be celebrating their 40th anniversary!
The show returned again for another year, on the Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st july. This year saw the show split into different sections; Music, Art, Threate, Sport, Games, Food, Animals, Horticulture and many more.
With a mix of free fun fantastic activities, and entertainment to keep kids, entertained.
My first time attending the Lambeth Country Show event wasn’t really what i had expected it to be. I went with one of my friends, and the impression I had was that there would be reggae, dance hall, bashment music but i was far too wrong. The type of music I could hear blaring out was tribute karaoke music, and if i had to be honest it sounded pretty awful.
I found myself to be pretty bored at the event and wanting to go somewhere else instead. However, I’m glad i went and experienced what it’s actually like at Lambeth Country Show, somewhere I’ve never been before, where i can judge for myself.
I would say this event is better for people with kids or babies or family people, because they can better enjoy the benefits of the fun, bubbling, exciting activities and attractions down there. The funfair rides are sure to delight the kids seeking the thrills and excitement of the funfair.
There’s something for everyone of all ages at the event. Enjoying the spinning and bouncing of new and vintage rides - people of all ages can come along for the ride, have fun and join in and have a brilliant time.
Every year you can hear music chimes on the carousel, and the bright lights, and the whizz waves of the rides filling the blue skies. This is really what a traditional country event should actually be like.
This is a family-friendly event and families with kids will definitely be interested in the farm zone, where you can take your kids to see the animal attractions from the country side, with the attractions ranging from entertainment to educational featuring farm yard animals, donkey rides, rare owls and sheep shearing and demonstrations. This may interest adults as much as the little kids.
Overall, to sum up the whole experience, it wouldn’t be my cup of tea. But it has that summer season festival vibe spirit to it. If it sounds like your kinda thing, then why not go to next year's Lambeth Country Show Fair event, and be merry and bring your kids and have fun. And It is a free event too.
