On Wednesday 13th of June, Sorapol celebrated the launch of their fabulous Monochrome Scarf and the brand's First Anniversary. The scarf, illustrated by Papaboule, is based on the 'Iron Grip' collection and is the second luxury scarf Sorapol has launched.
The brand's first insect print scarf from the SS'12 'True Colours' collection was a great success and the AW'12 Monochrome Scarf follows up on Sorapol's decision to launch a limited edition scarf with every line. It has become Sorapol's aspiration to launch these collector's scarves, beautifully reflecting the story behind the mainline collections.
In March Sorapol launched their AW12 collection entitled 'Iron Grip'. The story behind the Collection is based around the beautiful Vasilisa who had been born into the pre-revolutionary Russian Era where she lived in a society that still organised people by class. She had been sent into the Royal family as a spy by her Communist father, but disaster struck when she fell in love. She continued to lead a life of highs and lows, which are depicted through the spherical print on the scarf.
Nothing excites fashion like a dark, ominous story. The scarf charmingly encapsulates Vasilisa’s dark and sinister emotions through its focus on detail, which gives the scarf huge artistic status. When asked why no colour had been used, Sorapol stated that he wanted "Vasilisa’s disturbing yet mesmerising story to be demonstrated as it was – black and white".
The Monochrome scarf has been produced in two different formats; black on white and white on black. There will be only 50 produced of each. The black scarves are made in 100% silk twill, whilst the white scarves are silk organza – both measuring one meter by one meter.

The Scarf reflects Sorapol's aspiration to collaborate with different artists to illustrate the design, and the collaboration with the graphic genius Papaboule demonstrates the detail and elegance Sorapol continuously aims to achieve. The artwork on the scarves is so immaculately detailed, telling a deep story, making these scarves deserving for a place on the living room wall as well as on the delicate neck.

Sorapol's dazzlining party was held at Whisky Mist, a swanky bar in Mayfair, and it was the talk of the night.
In addition to the Number 1 Ice sculpture for Sorapol's 1st Anniversary, Ciroc sponsored vodka cocktails and numerous other highlights, Boy George and Jodie Harsh took control of the decks and played the best of beats to accomplish nothing less but a truly fulfilling night.
Amongst the gorgeous guests we had Emma Bunton, Jade Jones, Mica Paris and Joe Corre, founder of Illamasqua and Agent Provocateur. Sorapol hosted a crowd of elaborate dressers and in addition to the fantastic Ciroc vodka, there were delicious (oh yes baby, delicious!) cupcakes.
