PINGHE Spring/Summer 2014

Ping He’s signature style derives from her love of architecture; structured silhouettes combined with eye-catching details form the collection’s aesthetic. Employing contradictory concepts, her collection sees soft and strong, elegant and powerful elements, expertly blended in subtle, neutral hues. Ping designs for women and ensures that her clothing truly empowers and flatters. Having worked as part of the Alexander McQueen’s design team, she founded her eponymous label in 2011 with Spring/Summer 2014 being her second full collection and debut London Fashion Week show.

The Spring/Summer 2014 collection embodies a dark romance with a modern twist. In a monochromatic colour palette, tough leather is juxtaposed with broderie anglaise details to create an elegant resistance. The leading actress in her own movie, the PINGHE woman is strong and feminine, desirable to men and respected by women. The combination of soft, supple and flattering fabrics into distinct silhouettes ensures that she wins over her audiences’ heart.

There is an element of personalisation to the collection with a white waistcoat with a detachable leather peplum, and a dress with leather “wings” that can be fastened together or left open. Laser-cut details, hand- finished stitches and a hint of lace in the lining add refined signature touches to the garments. Fabrics usually seen in high-end lingerie are used in figure-flattering tops, and combined with butter-soft leather skirts to create covetable dresses that are both dramatic and wearable. Key pieces include a peplum leather jacket in white leather with accents of python, and a strapless mini dress with peek-a-boo pockets with cut out details emerging from below the hemline. Each piece showcases exquisite quality and a luxury finish that has become synonymous with the PINGHE name.

The catwalk shoes, also designed by Ping, come in two options – a clear Perspex kitten heel and a silver block heel. Cinderella’s slippers with attitude, they are the perfect accompaniment to the modern minimalist look of the PINGHE ready-to-wear offering.
