Graduate catwalk collection by James Walker

Collection delivered straight from the country to the catwalk.

With leather belts which look like they have come from a horses saddle adorning jackets and trench coats you will want to saddle up once you’ve viewed James Walker’s collection which debuted at Graduate Fashion Week 2012.

Although the collection is influenced by travel-wear, his collection exudes an equestrian style intertwined with a country feel.

This links James Walker’s collection, a graduate of The University of the Creative Arts (UCA Epsom) to the Country trend which is BIG for autumn / winter 2012-13.

Walker, as a fashion designer clearly understands how to use lines exceedingly well. This is shown in his designs with belts on jackets which run vertically down the body, helping to create the impression of a slimmer physique.

A similar leather strap detail can be found elsewhere in his collection on a trench coat.

This trench coat is revived through a leather belt, which contains a luggage tag, a playful reference to the travelling theme behind the collection.

This is a look which will no doubt be emulated this autumn, as cinched in belts are a major trend this season, thus, proving the credibility of Walker’s fashion pulse.

We are further introduced to his trend awareness through the oversized bags on the catwalk, which are making their debut this autumn. James Walker’s interpretation of this trend is reflected in the drum-like oversized bag in his collection.

The oversize theme and tweeds are also displayed through a jacket / trouser suit combination. This showcases Walker’s unique vision for his designs, as we are presented with what looks like oversized shoulder pads which Dynasty would be proud of.

With models adorned in sunglasses and wearing a series of tailored outfits, Walker has produced a sleek interpretation of arising fashion trends - oversized bags, country tweed and cinched in belts.

From reviewing the collection it is easy to see why James Walker was a George Gold Award Finalist of London Graduate Fashion Week (LGFW).

Overall, James Walker has presented a striking and innovative collection. One, which will tempt us to invest in an oversized bag, cinched in belt or big shoulder pads for this autumn / winter.
