Exclusive interview with Sara Lixuan Wang, Istituto Marangoni Milan Graduate

Retox Magazine: What was your inspiration behind this collection?

Sara Lixuan Wang: The collection was named “Flexible”. I took inspiration from rubber looking at its structure, multiple curvy lines that it takes in accordance to its use, and I have imagined a collection that retakes its silhouettes maximising the volumes. I transposed the idea of shape and volume to the collection’s garments, enriching the garments.

Retox Magazine: Do you think your style will change in the future?

Sara Lixuan Wang: Style yeah, all depending on my future experiences. I imagine my taste will also develop.

Retox Magazine: When and why did you get into fashion?

Sara Lixuan Wang: Most of the time I trust my feelings. One summer in Shanghai I just felt it. Then I did it.

Retox Magazine: With so much music out there, how did you decide on the track for the catwalk?

Sara Lixuan Wang: I did not decide, just listened to my feeling.

Retox Magazine: What gets you through a tough day?

Sara Lixuan Wang: Coffee and music.

Retox Magazine: Describe your fashion nightmare.

Sara Lixuan Wang: High tech takes the place of fashion.

Retox Magazine: Supposedly we lived in a nudist world and it was fashionable to show off garments only on occasions when playing sports (yes this would be a weird planet!) What sport would you choose to show off your collection and why?

Sara Lixuan Wang: I think maybe riding, would be very cool to have a riding fashion show.
