A playground of gorgeous models wearing fashion designer Pierre Garroudi's avant-garde designs was set loose to tease passers-by on the streets of London. To sum it up, think sizzling fashion models, transparent dresses, dramatic headwear, red, red, more red and fat pockets of contempt onlookers!
On April 22, at 4pm, Pierre Garroudi's studios on Crucifix Lane near London Bridge experienced an extraordinary buzz. Models, dancers, make up artists, stylists, photographers, Pierre Garroudi the man himself and a string of assistants set out to conquest London.
Ok, lets face it, at this point we already knew this was to be a date with a difference. Form the studios, to London Bridge, to London Bridge tube… Yes, tube! This is the fun part!
Travelling by tube, the Pierre Garroudi procession entertained not only the bemused passers-by and photographers but also the CCTV camera operators, I am sure, giving all quite a spoonful of entertainment.
It is not everyday that you get to see a fashion party on the London underground. Security’s reaction to the field load of photographers equipped with jumbo sized cameras following the fashion babes resulted in an issued warning: “No flash photography is allowed on the train”. Of course, we know that. It could cause temporary blindness resulting in an accident, blah blah blah… Naturally, the flashes were turned off for understandable security reasons.
The travellers on the tube looked at the girls bemused. One traveller confessed, "I wish I didn’t need to depart the train, I wish I could go wherever the hell ya'll going!" And another added, "If today was Friday I would join your group. Why in the world did you have to do this on a Thursday?" Undoubtedly, many passengers chewed on the same thought.
The euphoric plague of red has swamped Mayfair with the fashion models clinging to and swinging around any objects in their way in order to satisfy and accommodate photographers and passers-by's hungry desire for taking photos and videos while arousing the locals' interest to participate. For instance, when the red leggy plague has swamped a convertible, the owner was not able to refuse the opportunity to use his vehicle as a prop for posing. In fact he even offered a ride! A straight man's fantasy of 20 glamorous leggy fashion models, in transparent dresses showing off side-boobs can easily be shattered, as may have been in this case when the sexy troop declined the offer of the ride and proceeded towards Picadilly and Trafalgar Square on foot.
Fashion designer Pierre Garroudi was looking after his models like a mother goose after her chicks: counting, checking, running around them in circles as they walked hand in hand producing a long chain of red. Pierre Garroudi's hyper assistants also did their bit helping the fashion models last through the day – handing out drinks, piling on the layers of hair spray, and all sorts of things in between.
After many line-ups, posing and dancing Pierre Garroudi and his models approached Piccadilly and shamelessly caged The Shaftesbury Memorial Fountain. Another mouth-watering photo shoot took place with Pierre Garroudi himself agreeing to pose with his models – something the camera shy fashion designer was successfully avoiding through most parts of the day.
With continuous posing for tourists as well as Londoners, models paraded to Trafalgar Square. Pierre Garroudi's dancers took advantage of music blasting out from speakers belonging to random performers on Trafalgar Square and the fashion models, many of whom could no longer walk straight in their 6-inchers (due to pain, not alcohol!) once again composed sexy poses for every camera in order to sponge up every minute of fame, later proceeding to Charring Cross station and Lord only knows where else after that!
Towering fashion models in heals posing for cameras of all sizes and makes gave tourists more entertainment in London than they must have originally bargained for.
Fashion designer Pierre Garroudi keeps on coming up with Retoxifying ideas like this one to entertain and bemuse the city's occupants and visitors. Good fun, a good laugh and great photos for everyone! Ah, cheers Pierre! Do this more often and you’ll boost our tourism!
