Retox Magazine: What was your inspiration behind this collection?

Ume Sacranie: The collection titled The Delinquent Muse concentrates on the inner persona. Heavy metals, chains and jewellery have been an important influence for this collection. It is a gothic inspired compilation of outfits that include heavily beaded pieces alongside hand drawn embroideries. Statement pieces from the collection are the over chain dresses that turn accessories into wearable garments.

Retox Magazine: How would you describe your signature style?

Ume Sacranie: I'd like to say my signature is an eclectic mix of rock chic. Lots of black grunge pieces mixed with sharp tailoring.

Retox Magazine: Do you think your style will change in the future?

Ume Sacranie: I'd like to think I'll always have a signature but style is about evolving!!!

Retox Magazine: If you had all the money in the world, who would you like to be the face of your brand? Why?

Ume Sacranie: Model Freja Beha Erichsen, because she encapsulates the perfect muse. She's beautiful and edgy at the same time, and because she's quite rock and roll!!

Ume Sacranie's graduate fashion design collection

Ume Sacranie from De Montfort University presents her collection at Graduate Fashion Week 2011.

Retox Magazine: When and why did you get into fashion?

Ume Sacranie: I’ve always been really interested, and I’ve been studying it since forever!!! But my fathers also in the field, so I think I take on him.

Retox Magazine: What was the most fun part of studying fashion?

Ume Sacranie: The fact that it’s all in your mind and you can feed from all the creativity that surrounds you.

Retox Magazine: With so much music out there, how did you decide on the track for the catwalk?

Ume Sacranie: The music was really important for me, and throughout the collection I was continuously inspired by a lot of tracks. But predominantly, I wanted something that was a modern classic. Which is why I decided on sweet dreams by the Eurythmics, but the Emily Browning version, because it's darker and edgier.

Ume Sacranie, graduate from De Montfort University, presents her collection at GFW 2011.

Retox Magazine: What’s your biggest strength and weakness! Oh yeah baby, spill the beans!

Ume Sacranie: My biggest strength is my passion. And in this industry passion is very important. I'd say my weakness is the same; the passion can sometimes drive you insane.

Retox Magazine: If you were to design an outfit and call it ‘Retox’ what would it be and look like?

Ume Sacranie: Retox = toxic. So definitely something very similar to my current collection, chains, metals and something overly beaded!!!

Retox Magazine: If you could have a dinner date with any fashion designer in the world, who would it be and why?

Ume Sacranie: Christophe Decarnin, because he created Balmania and he's just too cool!!
